Alcoceber a beach town for families in Castellon, Spain

Three things make Alcoceber special:

First, is the only coastal village on mountain terrain, the rest of Castellon's coastal villages are flat.

Second, a small beach called Las Fuentes, ('the fountains'), as water pours out in springs from the mountain into the beach, lowering sea temperature compared to the surrounding beaches - which makes this beach jellyfish-free.

Third, the atmosphere is that of peaceful quietness, so there are plenty of families with children, the beach promenade is just for walking or biking, no cars allowed

Beaches from North to South: 'Las Fuentes', calm and cold water, Carregador, open beach, Romana, Del Moro, named after a rock in front of it, Tres Playas, three small caves surrounded by rocks, and Tropicana.

There is a Marina called Las Fuentes, with 300 moorings, which organizes regattas the whole year.

Alcala de Xivert, the city to which county Alcoceber belongs, is dominated by castle of Xivert, founded by the Temple order.

All around the Levante coast there are two common festivities: Sant Joan (night of fire and fireworks), at beginning of Summer, and Moors and Christians, at the end of September, representing the historic confrontations between two communities.

In front of Alcoceber, Columbretes Islands are a great place for diving, although you may need special permission to get there, since it is a Natural Park.
Just to the North, Serra d'Irta Natural Park, great for trekking, biking and riding.
Some 30 km to the North, the city of Penyiscola, with an impressive citadel surrounded by water, that was the castle of Pope Luna, at the time of Avignon Cism on the Holy Roman Church. The castle is fully visitable, and home of temporary expositions.

Alcossebre is organizing some gastronomic events: In October, is time for mushrooms and at the end of the month, special bull fighting events, like untamed bulls, firehorn bulls and bulls in the streets (sort of famous San Fermin). November is time for prawns, in fact just at the north of Alcossebre there is a city famous for prawns, Vinaroz. December is the season for artichokes, and also the celebration of Santa Lucia, on the 13th or following Sunday, with a pilgrimage from all the shire of Alcala de Xivert. January is the month of Sea and Mountain food, February for Traditional Cooking.
