Costa del Sol – Costa del Golf – Malaga, Spain

From Malaga to Tarifa, Costa del Sol also known as Costa del Golf, after its 42 golf courses, an incredible touristic offer.


Malaga, the main city, with half a million population, is dominated by Alcazaba and Gibralfaro castle on top a hill over the city. Home of famous paint genius Pablo Picasso, there is a museum after him. Visit the city during Holly Week to see Procesiones or August to participate in Feria, where you have fiesta till early in the morning, but book in advance!


Torremolinos, very popular among British tourists. La Carihuela, the old fisherman town is great for fried fish ('pescaito frito') an Andalusian specialty, and also a long beach. Don't miss walking and shopping through San Miguel street. This is very close to the Malaga International Airport.


Benalmadena, with a unique Marina, called Puerto Principe, made of Arabic inspiration buildings around the docks and inside some artificial islands, and Casino Torrequebrada. There is a public park with flamingos living in freedom, close to a private marine aquarium, Selwo. Don't miss an artistic wind sculpture in a circus on the main road, inspired in Miro drawings, and close to Bil-Bil Castle.


Fuengirola, with the Sohail Castle, built by Abderraman III on the Xth century, and a very nice beach promenade. Main beaches are Los boliches, La Campana, Torreblanca and Las Gaviotas


Mijas, traditional mountain village, with an Arabic designed downtown, where you can enjoy 'chocolate con churros' and donkey-taxi riding.


Ronda, historic city, with very nice sights, an incredible ancient bridge over 'Tajo' (Cut), one of the oldest bullrings in Spain, and even Roman ruins, at Ronda itself, and at close archeological site of Acinipo. Surrounded by 3 natural parks, Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra de Grazalema and Los Alcornocales. Offers a unique racing experience at Ascari Resort


Marbella, the favourite of Arabian sheiks, although too much tourist exploited right know, still keeps its charm. Puerto Banus, the most famous Marina in Spain, home of the biggest yachts and luxury shops. Also famous know because of political scandals.


Estepona, with the famous Sotogrande complex, great for playing golf, polo and to get close with celebrities, is dominated by Sierra Bermeja (Red Mountains). The coast has 7 towers built 500 years ago to defend the village from moorish pirates. There is a great view of Gibraltar and Africa.

Gibraltar, still a British colony, lives as a naval base and tax paradise, it is useful for bargain shopping of British-like products. Airport is now open to flights not only to UK but also to Madrid.


Algeciras, gate to Africa, ferries take you there, Ceuta or Tanger, in 30 minutes. It is a big port also for container ships.


Tarifa, paradise for windsurfers, and now, also for kitesurfers, here strong wind is guaranteed all year around.
